Our Team
My name is Claudia Hanson and I am the owner and manager of Woodlands Nursery. I have a BA in Early Years Education and Childhood Studies. I started work as a childcare provider in 1999. In 2003, I opened my nursery as Rainbow Playhome. More recently, in 2015 the name changed to Woodlands Nursery. Over the past 20 years I have been providing a homely environment where children can develop and learn through play.
We provide a balance between child-initiated and adult-led activities. Therefore, we plan according to each child's individual interests and needs. We use the Statutory Framework Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as a guide for children's assessments and to evaluate their learning and holistic development. I am a passionate advocate for healthy eating. Our setting provides nutritious and freshly cooked meals cooked here on site daily. My role at Woodlands is to provide a high-quality service to support children’s learning and wellbeing. I manage my team with a strong emphasis on professional development and I aim to develop close partnerships with parents and multi-agencies.
Our team consists of qualified staff that are knowledgeable, enthusiastic and skilled in child development. The staff qualifications vary from Level 2 and Level 3 in Education and Childcare to BA in Early Childhood Studies Level 6 (Degree). The nursery also employs two fulltime qualified teachers. They plan lessons and overlook the children’s learning and development. The nursery also employs a music teacher who delivers live music sessions weekly. All employees have their enhanced DBS. They are up to date with all mandatory training and are fully aware of the nursery’s policies and procedures.
